The Blind Side is a 2009 American drama film. It was written by Michael Lewis and directed by John Lee Hancock. Quinton Aaron stars as Michael Oher, with Sandra Bullock as Leigh Anne Tuohy, Tim McGraw as Sean Tuohy and Kathy Bates as Miss Sue. The Blind Side tells the true story of football player Michael Oher who became an offensive tackle for the Baltimore Ravens and the Carolina Panthers. The start of the Michael Oher project is attributed to Jamie Horowitz, a University of Southern California student who read Lewis's 2006 New York Times Magazine article about Oher, "The Blind Side: Evolution of a Game." He and classmate Ken Weinman pitched the idea to John Lee Hancock and Peter Krause. The film was made and released by The Weinstein Company. Michael Oher (Quinton Aaron) is a homeless 16-year-old living on the streets in Memphis, Tennessee, and hoping for a chance to attend college. In order to be eligible for the upcoming season of football, he needs to enroll in a school within a week or have to wait another year. His coaches find him a school, but under the condition that he must attain a minimum grade point average in his classes. The school is only able to offer him one course which fits into his schedule, an independent study math class overseen by the strict and sarcastic Sandra Meeber (Jennifer Coolidge). He asks about the possibility of transferring into an actual class, but is informed that he should be happy that he can even play football. Michael asks for permission to stay with the Tuohys (Sandra Bullock), who live in a well-to-do neighborhood in Memphis. He meets their son S.J. (Jae Head), who is incredulous that Michael doesn't know who spoon and fork are, and their daughter Collins (Lily Collins), who takes an interest in Michael. Mrs. Tuohy (Sandra Bullock) does not want to let him stay, but her husband Sean (Tim McGraw) convinces her to give him a chance. Michael practices with the Tuohy family and quickly becomes a student at the top of his math class under Ms. Meeber's tutelage, but is told he must also pass the state algebra test to be eligible to play football. He fails this test, but then reveals that he actually passed by using his street smarts. After he learns that the Tuohys are planning to send Collins to Alabama, Michael convinces them to let him stay another year instead in order to keep in touch with her. Michael becomes absorbed in football, and the Tuohys become convinced that he has a future in college football. Because Michael has never met his father, Sean and Collins travel with him to visit his mother (Bonnie Bedelia) and younger siblings in Memphis; however she is uninterested in taking custody of them. Michael takes them home anyway; although they are poor, they are affectionate toward each other and happy. cfa1e77820
